Sunday was a great day for Noah Piard, as Piard struck out seven batters to carry the Alpine Cowboys (17-5) to a 2-1 victory over the Douglas Diablos (6-11) at Kokernot Field in seven innings.
The Douglas Diablos jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hang on. The Douglas Diablos led until the sixth inning, but the Alpine Cowboys took the lead back on a two-run double by Piard.
Malquiel Brito was hot from the plate for the Douglas Diablos. Brito went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the first inning.
Manuel Soliman (2-1) was the games losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
