Alpine Cowboys Rout Roswell Invaders 18-3

July 4 2022 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Roswell Invaders 18-3 at Kokernot Field behind a 21-hit offensive attack. Alpine scored in six consecutive innings from the second through the seventh, building a commanding lead before Roswell answered with three runs in the seventh. The Invaders finished with 10 hits and two errors while Alpine also committed two errors.

Mark Traylor led Alpine with six hits in six at-bats, five runs and three RBI, including a home run and a double. James Prockish went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI and two walks, while Colin Johnson added three hits, two runs and three RBI. Andrew Capone drove in three runs, and Manny Garcia and Matteo Avallone each finished with two RBI.

Alpine broke through for five runs in the second inning, added three in the third and two in the fourth, then scored four in the fifth and two each in the sixth and seventh. Roswell’s three-run seventh included a run-scoring hit from Dillan Smith and an RBI from Jack Matero, but the Invaders were unable to close the gap.

Buzz Shirley earned the win for Alpine after allowing three runs on nine hits in 6.1 innings. He walked five and struck out five. Jonathan Triesler, Alejandro Amezquita and Jared Strait combined to finish the game without allowing a run. Roswell starter Rene Ramirez took the loss after surrendering 10 runs on 13 hits in four innings.
