Alpine Cowboys Roll Past Weimar Hormigas 25-4

July 9 2022 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Weimar Hormigas 25-4 at Kokernot Field, using 27 hits and a six-run third inning to take control. Alpine added three runs in the fourth, two in the fifth, five in the sixth, two in the seventh and seven in the eighth. Weimar scored once in the sixth and three times in the seventh, finishing with five hits and two errors.

Bryce Donovan led Alpine with five hits, three runs and five RBI, while Andrew Capone scored five runs with three hits and two RBI. Mark Traylor collected four hits and three RBI. Josh Laurie had two hits and three RBI, James Prockish added three hits and three RBI, and Matteo Avallone drove in four runs. Donovan, Avallone and Buzz Shirley each hit a home run, while Capone added a double and a triple.

Shirley earned the win after allowing three hits and one earned run in six innings, with six strikeouts and three walks. Jaylen Smith, J. Orta and Trey Silmon combined to hold Weimar scoreless over the final three innings. Joseph Barrons took the loss for Weimar after permitting 14 hits and 11 runs, five earned, in 4.1 innings.
