Alpine Cowboys Rally Past Santa Fe Fuego 10-7

July 12 2022 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Santa Fe Fuego 10-7 at Kokernot Field, overcoming a 7-5 deficit with a five-run eighth inning. Alpine finished with 13 hits and one error, while Santa Fe collected 16 hits and also committed one error.

Santa Fe scored once in the first inning and added two runs in the fifth before taking a 5-1 lead in the eighth. Alpine answered with four runs in the fifth and broke the game open in the bottom of the eighth, scoring five times to move ahead 10-7. The Fuego scored twice in the ninth but could not complete the comeback.

Andrew Capone and Josh Laurie each went 3-for-5 for Alpine. Capone scored twice and drove in one run, while Laurie scored twice and had two RBI. Bryce Donovan scored three runs, drove in two and hit a home run and a triple. Mark Traylor added three hits and two RBI, and James Prockish contributed two RBI.

Parker DePasquale led Santa Fe with three hits and three RBI, including his 13th home run of the season. Luis Hidalgo went 3-for-5 with two RBI, while Drake Ayala and Jared Gay each had two hits. Matteo Avallone worked six innings for Alpine, allowing 10 hits and three earned runs while striking out seven. Michael Castillo earned the win with two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit and striking out one.
