Alpine Cowboys Rally Past Trinidad Triggers 10-7

August 3 2022 The Alpine Cowboys scored five runs in the fifth inning to pull away for a 10-7 victory over the Trinidad Triggers at Kokernot Field. Alpine finished with 13 hits and overcame a 7-5 deficit after Trinidad scored three times in the top of the fifth.

Calvin Graves led Alpine with two hits in three at-bats and three RBI, while Kam Holland added a triple and two RBI. Josh Laurie went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and James Prockish and Bryce Donovan each drove in a run. Manny Garcia also tripled and scored twice for Alpine, which scored three runs in the second, one in the third, one in the fourth and five in the fifth.

Trinidad collected 14 hits in the loss. Adam Purdy went 3-for-5 with two RBI, and Jason Rooks contributed two hits and two RBI. Peter Bocchino had two hits and an RBI, while Ricky Butts also recorded two hits. Trinidad scored once in the first, once in the third, twice in the fourth and three times in the fifth.

Buzz Shirley earned the win for Alpine after allowing 12 hits and seven runs, two earned, in six innings while striking out six. Alejandro Amezquita and Michael Castillo each worked a scoreless inning, and Jared Strait secured the save with a hitless ninth. Tyler Fischer took the loss for Trinidad after surrendering 12 hits and 10 runs, nine earned, in 4 2/3 innings.
