Alpine Cowboys Cruise Past Austin Weirdos 15-5

June 2 2024 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Austin Weirdos 15-5, collecting 15 hits while holding Austin to 10 hits. Alpine scored four runs in the first inning and added another in the second to take an early 5-0 lead at Kokernot Field.

Alpine extended its advantage with three runs in the fifth, three in the sixth, one in the seventh and three in the eighth. Austin scored twice in the sixth and added three runs in the ninth, but could not overcome the deficit. James Prockish led Alpine with three hits and two RBI, while AJ Folds and Khalil Wilson each had two hits. Josh Rego drove in two runs, and Peyten Kennard also collected two RBI.

Sam Russell earned the win for Alpine after allowing two runs on seven hits in six innings. He walked one and struck out six. Tyler Legere followed with two hitless scoreless innings and three strikeouts. Austin starter Jason McLaughlin was charged with the loss after facing two batters and allowing three runs, while Jacob Strobel worked five innings and gave up five runs.

Jalil Marinez paced Austin with three hits and scored once. Donnell Scott added two hits and two RBI, and Oscar Galvez had one hit and one RBI. Alpine committed no errors, while Austin was charged with three errors.
