Garden City Wind Rally Past Alpine Cowboys 8-7

June 9 2024 The Garden City Wind rallied from an early deficit to defeat the Alpine Cowboys 8-7 at Kokernot Field. Garden City totaled seven hits and one error while Alpine collected 11 hits and committed five errors.

Alpine jumped ahead 4-1 in the first inning and added another run in the second. Garden City trimmed the gap with a run in the fourth before erupting for five runs in the fifth to take a 7-5 lead. The Wind added an insurance run in the seventh, while Alpine scored once in the eighth and once in the ninth but could not complete the comeback.

Jordan Williams led Garden City with two hits two runs and two RBI. Robert Morosetti scored twice and drove in two runs while Dominic Enbody added a hit and an RBI. Brendan Beard contributed a hit and two RBI, and the box score credits Morosetti with a home run. Garden City also received two hits and three RBI from Williams, including two doubles.

James Prockish paced Alpine with two hits three RBI and a home run, while Josh Rego went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Matteo Avallone added two hits and an RBI. Beard earned the win after allowing six hits and five runs three earned over seven innings with eight strikeouts. Gavin Peterson worked the eighth and Adam Wibert recorded the save despite allowing a run in the ninth. Dieterich Guertzgen took the loss for Alpine after surrendering six hits and seven runs three earned in 4.2 innings.
