Alpine Cowboys Overpower Austin Weirdos 20-6

June 3 2024 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Austin Weirdos 20-6 at Kokernot Field, using a six-run fifth inning and an eight-run seventh to pull away. Alpine finished with 14 hits, while Austin collected 13. The Cowboys also took advantage of five Austin errors.

Josh Rego led Alpine with three hits, two home runs and three RBI. John Tuttle added three hits, three RBI and three doubles, while Tommy Kretzler scored twice and drove in two runs. Johnny Medina hit a three-run homer, and Khalil Wilson contributed two hits, a home run and three RBI. For Austin, Marcos Corrales went 2-for-4 with four RBI, while Jalil Marinez scored twice and collected two hits, including two doubles.

Alec Cruz earned the win after allowing one hit and striking out four in two scoreless innings. Starter Dieterich Guertzgen worked five innings for Alpine, allowing eight hits and four runs, three earned, with three strikeouts. Austin starter Dean Streich took the loss after surrendering eight hits and 10 runs in 4 1/3 innings. Alpine scored in eight of its nine innings and held Austin scoreless in the third sixth and seventh.
