Tucson Saguaros Rally Past Alpine Cowboys 9-7

July 2 2024 The Tucson Saguaros defeated the Alpine Cowboys 9-7 at Kokernot Field. Tucson finished with 10 hits and no errors while Alpine collected 11 hits without an error. The Saguaros overcame an early 2-0 deficit and secured the win with a two-run sixth inning after the teams were tied at seven. Zach Campbell led Tucson with four hits in five at-bats and scored twice. Cam Collier added two hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs. Gavy Perez-Torres went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, while Mike Whalen, JuJuan Franklin, Colin Johnson and pinch-hitter Zac Rice each added an RBI. Alpine received three hits and an RBI from AJ Folds, who also doubled twice. Johnny Medina had two hits and two doubles, while Peyten Kennard went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Khalil Wilson scored three runs and collected two hits. Jay Cervantes worked four innings for Tucson, allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out five. Dallan Curthoys earned the win after one inning, and Andrew Baker recorded the save with two scoreless innings and four strikeouts. Dieterich Guertzgen allowed six runs in 4.1 innings for Alpine, while Riley Bost was charged with the loss after surrendering two runs in one inning.
