Alpine Cowboys Beat Austin Weirdos 9-2

July 3 2024 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Austin Weirdos 9-2 at Kokernot Field. Alpine scored three runs in the third inning and added runs in the fourth sixth and seventh to pull away after Austin took an early 1-0 lead in the first and added another run in the third. The Cowboys outhit Austin 10-5.

AJ Folds led Alpine with two hits two runs two walks and an RBI. Taylor Darden added two hits two runs and an RBI while Drake Angeron drove in two runs and scored once. Trevor Tripoli and Josh Rego each contributed a hit and an RBI. Brendan May also had a double and two RBIs. Jalil Marinez and Cade Bochtler collected two hits apiece for Austin while Marcos Cabrera drove in both of the Weirdos’ runs.

May earned the win after allowing three hits and two runs with three walks and two strikeouts in five innings. Jonathan Fleckenstein followed with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts while Tyler Legere and Riley Bost each pitched a scoreless inning. Roman Sherman took the loss for Austin after five innings, allowing six hits and six runs with five walks and three strikeouts.
