Alpine Cowboys Roll Past Austin Weirdos 12-1

July 4 2024 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Austin Weirdos 12-1 at Kokernot Field, scoring in each of the first four innings and finishing with a 12-5 advantage in hits. Alpine took a 2-0 lead in the first, added four runs in the second, four in the third and two in the fourth. Austin’s lone run came in the fifth inning, and Alpine ended the game with a shutout seventh inning after Austin was held scoreless in the final two frames.

Trevor Tripoli led Alpine’s offense by going 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBI. AJ Folds went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBI, while Taylor Darden added two hits, two RBI and a double. James Prockish contributed two hits, including a triple, and Matteo Avallone doubled and scored twice.

Humberto Vela earned the win for Alpine after allowing one run on four hits in five innings, with three strikeouts and no walks. Jaylen Smith struck out three in a scoreless sixth inning, and Alec Cruz pitched a scoreless seventh with one strikeout.

Justin Graeber took the loss for Austin after surrendering five earned runs on three hits and three walks in 1.1 innings. Jacob Strobel followed with 4.2 innings, allowing seven earned runs on nine hits and four walks. Austin committed two errors in the game while Alpine played error-free baseball.
