The Alpine Cowboys (21-18) shut the door early on the Salina Stockade (18-21), capturing a 9-1 victory on Friday at Kokernot Field.
Seven runs in the first three innings allowed the Alpine Cowboys to put the game away early. A steal of home by Reagan Rutledge in the first inning and a two-run double by Rutledge and a two-run double by Seth McLemore during the second inning helped the Alpine Cowboys put some runs on the board early.
Rutledge racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Alpine Cowboys.
The Alpine Cowboys got the win thanks in large part to Jake Heisslers dominant, six-strikeout performance. Heissler allowed one earned run on five hits and no walks over six innings.
Tim Blackmon (4-2) was the games losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked seven and struck out three.
