The Alpine Cowboys (22-21) jumped out to an early lead on the Salina Stockade (21-22) and captured a 16-3 victory on Monday at Kokernot Field.
Five runs in the first three innings allowed the Alpine Cowboys to put the game away early. An RBI single by Ariel Adut and a two-run error in the first inning and an RBI single by Reagan Rutledge and an error during the second inning helped the Alpine Cowboys put some runs on the board early.
Eric Ferguson went a perfect 4-4 at the plate for the Alpine Cowboys. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the second, fourth, and fifth innings.
AJ McElderry picked up the win for the Alpine Cowboys. McElderry pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks while striking out five.
Gilbert Barrera was charged with his fifth loss of the year. He allowed 10 runs in three innings, walked two and struck out four.
