Tucson Saguaros Rally Past Alpine Cowboys 11-5

July 17 2016 The Tucson Saguaros overcame a late Alpine Cowboys lead and defeated Alpine 11-5. Tucson collected 16 hits and played errorless baseball while Alpine finished with 12 hits and five errors.

Alpine led 5-3 after scoring three runs in the seventh inning, but Tucson answered with four runs in the bottom half to take a 7-5 lead. The Saguaros added four more runs in the eighth inning to pull away. Tucson scored in the second fifth sixth seventh and eighth innings.

Jesse Baker led Tucson’s offense by going 4-for-5 with four runs and an RBI. Jimmy Heck went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and a run while Tanner Giesel collected three hits and drove in three runs. Michael Rampone added two hits and an RBI. Alpine’s Matt Henriksen went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs and hit his fifth home run of the season. Ariel Adut also homered and finished with two hits and an RBI.

Aaron Smith earned the win for Tucson after allowing three runs on three hits with one strikeout in one inning. D. Diaz started for the Saguaros and gave up two earned runs on five hits while striking out seven in five innings. Alpine starter Kevin Klaess worked six innings and allowed three runs two earned on eight hits with four strikeouts. Ryan Richardson was charged with the loss after surrendering four runs in two-thirds of an inning.
