Alpine Cowboys Rally Past White Sands 6-5

June 21 2016 The Alpine Cowboys rallied for five runs in the seventh inning to defeat the White Sands Pupfish 6-5 at Kokernot Field. White Sands led 1-0 after the first inning and extended its advantage with four runs in the sixth, but Alpine answered in the bottom of the sixth with one run before taking the lead in the seventh.

Alpine collected 13 hits, led by Eric Ferguson’s 4-for-5 performance. P. Llewellyn went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, while Y. Okazaki added two hits and an RBI. Seth McLemore, Matt Henriksen and Ariel Adut each drove in a run. White Sands finished with 12 hits, including four from Dubal Baez, while Eric Kalbfliesh went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and T.J. Wharton added two hits and an RBI.

Adam Ogburn earned the win for Alpine after allowing three hits in 1.2 scoreless innings. David Gates worked a scoreless inning, and Chris Rogers completed the ninth for the save. Jake Heissler struck out seven while allowing five runs on nine hits in 5.1 innings for Alpine. White Sands starter Taylor Elman worked 6.1 innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on nine hits with four walks and one strikeout, while Frank Fantino took the loss after surrendering two runs in two-thirds of an inning.
