June 5 2012 The Santa Fe Fuego defeated the Alpine Cowboys 9-6 at Fort Marcy Park. The teams were tied 2-2 after three innings before Santa Fe took control with five runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth. Alpine scored three times in the ninth but could not complete the comeback.
Evan Kohli led the Fuego offense with three hits, including a home run, and four RBI. Andrew Archbold added two hits, three runs and one RBI, while Kieran Bradford also had two hits and scored twice. Santa Fe finished with 12 hits and nine RBI as a team.
Alpine collected nine hits, with Bo Bell and Kevin Hennessey recording two apiece. Hennessey drove in one run, while Ben Ives and Chris Davis also had RBI. The Cowboys' nine-hit attack included three runs in the ninth inning.
Brett Moore started for Santa Fe and allowed six hits and three runs over 6.1 innings while striking out five. Chris Treibt earned the win with 0.2 scoreless innings and one strikeout, and Jeremiah Steinart added a scoreless inning with one strikeout. Scott Hartling worked 6.1 innings for Alpine, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out eight; Andrew Plotkin was charged with the loss.
