Alpine Cowboys Pull Away from White Sands Pupfish 8-4

July 1 2017 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the White Sands Pupfish 8-4 at Kokernot Field. Alpine scored in the first, third and fourth innings before adding three runs in the sixth and two more in the eighth. White Sands remained scoreless through seven innings but scored four times in the eighth, leaving Alpine with the victory after nine innings. Alpine collected 11 hits, led by B. Pugh’s 3-for-4 performance with two runs and two RBI. Ely Gallego went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a double, while John Giakas added two hits and two RBI. Crisford Adames also recorded two hits for the Cowboys, who committed one error. White Sands finished with six hits. Rayshelon Carolina had two hits and one RBI, while Aaron Sheaks hit a home run and drove in two runs. Sheaks and Sammy Favela scored during the Pupfish’s four-run eighth inning. Anthony Rocco worked four scoreless innings and allowed one hit while striking out four, though he issued seven walks. Andrew Millner earned the win after allowing two hits and striking out six in three scoreless innings. Alhanon Miller recorded the save with two scoreless innings, one hit allowed and four strikeouts. White Sands starter Darrell Render Jr. took the loss after surrendering six runs on eight hits in six innings.
