June 10 2018 The Alpine Cowboys overcame an early deficit to defeat the Santa Fe Fuego 20-13. Santa Fe scored four runs in the first inning and six more in the second to take a 10-2 lead before Alpine answered with four runs in the third and four in the fourth. The Fuego held a 12-10 advantage after four innings.
Alpine seized control with three runs in the sixth and added two in the seventh three in the eighth and two in the ninth. The Cowboys finished with 13 hits and four home runs.
Paul Ludden went 3-for-3 with five RBI while M. Traylor collected three hits and three RBI.
Tommy Ziegen went 3-for-6 with two RBI and a home run.
Ellington Hopkins and
Seth Douglas also homered for Alpine.
Santa Fe produced 17 hits in the loss.
Dan Pellinen led the Fuego by going 4-for-6 with two RBI while
Mike Annone went 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Donny Ortiz Jr. and
Ethan Estes each hit a home run for Santa Fe.
Matt Terrones earned the win for Alpine after pitching 1.2 scoreless innings with no hits allowed and three strikeouts.
Ely Gallego started for the Cowboys and allowed 12 runs on 14 hits in 4.1 innings.
Julian Devora took the loss for Santa Fe after allowing 12 runs including 10 earned on seven hits with seven walks in five innings.
