June 27 2018 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the White Sands Pupfish 19-3 at Kokernot Field, scoring 23 hits while holding White Sands to four hits. Alpine broke through with eight runs in the second inning, added one in the third, six in the fourth, two in the fifth and two in the sixth. White Sands scored all three of its runs in the sixth inning.
Jonathan Bigley led Alpine with three hits and five RBI, while
Tommy Ziegen added three hits and four RBI. Mike Traylor went 5-for-5 with two RBI and a triple.
Paul Ludden had three hits, scored four runs, drove in two and hit a home run.
Seth Douglas and
Mike DEletto each collected three hits, and DEletto also scored three runs.
DEletto earned the win after allowing three hits and no runs in five innings, striking out eight and walking three.
Sean Persky pitched the final two innings and allowed three runs on one hit with five walks and three strikeouts. White Sands starter
