Alpine Cowboys Defeat Tucson Saguaros 13-2

July 5 2019 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Tucson Saguaros 13-2 behind a 15-hit attack at Cherry Field. Alpine built an early lead with two runs in the first inning and two more in the third before breaking the game open with three runs in the fourth. The Cowboys added two runs in the sixth and seventh innings and one each in the eighth and ninth. Paul Ludden led Alpine offensively, going 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs. C. Graves added three hits and scored twice, while Mike DEletto collected two hits and drove in two runs. W. Little and S. Little each had a hit and an RBI, and Ellington Hopkins added an RBI. Jake Binder earned the win after allowing four hits and one run over seven innings. He struck out nine and walked one while also contributing a hit and scoring twice. Barry Hamer Jr. and Garrett Mack each worked a scoreless inning, although Hamer allowed an unearned run. Tucson scored its only runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Daniel Diaz had two hits and drove in the Saguaros’ lone run, while Lawrence Chavez and Jeremiah Delgado also recorded hits. Tyler Daugherty took the loss after surrendering seven runs, six earned, on eight hits in five innings.
