July 18 2019 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Tucson Saguaros 9-0 behind a 17-hit offensive attack and a dominant pitching performance. Alpine scored one run in the third inning and another in the fifth before breaking the game open with three runs in the seventh and four in the eighth. Tucson was held to one hit and committed three errors.
Lance Myers led Alpine with four hits and three RBI, including two doubles. C. Graves and Rodney Tennie each collected three hits, while Graves scored twice and Tennie scored once and drove in a run. Myers scored twice, and M. Traylor added a hit and an RBI. Alpine also received two hits and two walks from Ely Gallego.
Jose Hernandez earned the win after allowing one hit and no runs in seven innings. He struck out 11 and walked eight over 28 batters faced before Alejandro Amezquita completed the shutout with two scoreless innings, two strikeouts and two walks. Robby Medel took the loss for Tucson after allowing three runs, two earned, on eight hits in six innings.
