ALPINE - Sean Persky has stepped down from his duties after five seasons as the Alpine Cowboys field manager, effective immediately.

Persky managed the Cowboys from 2019 through 2024, winning two Pecos League championships (2019, 2024) and three Mountain Division Manager of the Year awards (2019, 2022, 2024). He managed the Mountain Division All-Star Game on four occasions (2019, 2022-2024).

Persky departs the organization with a 198-85 record across five seasons (including playoffs). He holds the Cowboys all-time record for managerial wins. Persky promoted 42 players to higher independent leagues over the course of his leadership in Alpine, more than any other manager in Pecos League history.

Persky began his professional career with the Cowboys in 2017 and 2018 as a shortstop before making the transition to the skipper role. The Pocatello, Idaho, native led the Cowboys to a championship in his first season at the helm, guiding Alpine to a 45-16 record in 2019 en route to the second Pecos Leag

August 11 2024 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the San Rafael Pacifics 12-10 in a high-scoring contest at Kokernot Field. Alpine collected 13 hits and overcame 12 hits by San Rafael to secure the victory.

Alpine built an early advantage with three runs in the second inning and four more in the third to take a 7-2 lead. The Cowboys added two runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the eighth. San Rafael rallied with two runs in the third, one in the fourth, two in the seventh, four in the eighth and one in the ninth, but could not complete the comeback.

AJ Folds led Alpine with three hits, four runs and two RBI. Drake Angeron and Matteo Avallone each had two hits, while Hunter Reid drove in three runs and hit a home run. San Rafaels Mark Hernandez had two hits and four RBI, and John Bicos added two RBI.

Reid earned the win after allowing eight hits and five runs, four earned, in 6.2 innings while striking out three. Alec Cruz recorded the save with one inning of relief. San Rafael starter Alex Valasek took the loss after surrendering 11 hits and 11 runs, 10 earned, in six innings.

August 7 2024 The Alpine Cowboys rallied for a 5-4 extra-inning victory over the Garden City Wind at Kokernot Field. Alpine scored the winning run in the 11th inning after the teams entered the final frame tied at 4-4. Garden City finished with 12 hits and five errors while Alpine collected six hits and committed one error.

Garden City opened a 2-0 lead in the first inning and added a run in the third. Alpine answered with one run in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh to take a 4-3 lead. The Wind tied the game with a run in the ninth before the Cowboys pushed across the decisive run in the 11th.

Jordan Williams led Garden City with two hits, two RBI and two walks. Jacob Talamante and Robert Morosetti also had two hits apiece, while Joey Wright added one RBI. For Alpine, Drake Angeron, Matteo Avallone, Taylor Darden and James Prockish each recorded an RBI. Avallone had a double and AJ Folds tripled.

Alec Cruz earned the win for Alpine after allowing one run on three hits with three walks and one strikeout over three innings. Brayde Hirai started for the Cowboys and struck out five while allowing three runs on seven hits over five innings. Garden City starter Brendan Beard worked six innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits with four walks and two strikeouts. Nico ODonnell took the loss despite allowing no earned runs in 2.2 innings.

Alpine’s offense was led by Kyle Rodriguez, who went 1-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Drake Angeron hit a home run and finished 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI, while Matteo Avallone went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI. Josh Rego added two hits, including a double, and two RBI. Hunter Reid also homered and drove in a run.

Tyler Reistetter earned the win after allowing three hits and no runs over five innings, with three walks and two strikeouts. Hunter Reid followed with four scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out three, and was credited with the save. Garden City starter Drew Henderson took the loss after giving up eight hits and seven earned runs in four innings.

Garden City was held scoreless throughout, with Joey Wright recording two of the Wind’s five hits. Alpine finished with one error, while Garden City committed two.

Taylor Darden named Pecos League Mountain Division MVP

Taylor Darden has been named MVP of the Pecos League Mountain Division. Darden played shortstop and hit 5th in a record breaking season for the Alpine Cowboys. The Cowboys set the all time winning percentage record in the Pecos League. Darden did his part hitting .422 with 6 Home Runs. He played an amazing shortstop and anchored the Cowboys defense which lead the Pecos League in fielding percentage.

James Prockish is Pecos League All Time Hits Leader

James Prockish is the all time Pecos League hits leader. In 2024 James became the first player to reach 1000 official at bats in Pecos League History.

James owns all Monterey Amberjacks and Alpine Cowboys offensive records.

James broke into the Pecos League in 2017 as an original Monterey Amberjack. He played for the Amberjacks in 2017, 2018 and 2019. James moved to Tucson for the 2020 Covid league. James moved to his permanent home in Alpine in 2021 and has played with the Cowboys from 2021-2024. He was the Mountain Division MVP in 2023 and has anchored the third base position for the Cowboys.

August 2 2024 The Alpine Cowboys rallied from an early deficit to defeat the Tucson Saguaros 15-11 at Kokernot Field. Both teams collected 16 hits, but Alpine overcame three errors and used a nine-run sixth inning to take control of the game.

Tucson scored twice in the first inning and added four runs in the second to build a 6-0 lead. Alpine answered with three runs in the fourth, while the Saguaros added four in the fifth and one in the sixth to lead 11-6. The Cowboys then erupted for nine runs in the bottom of the sixth to move ahead 12-11 before adding three more runs in the seventh.

James Prockish led Alpine with three hits, three runs and two RBI. Kyle Rodriguez also had three hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs. Matteo Avallone contributed two hits and three RBI, while Taylor Darden reached base five times with two hits and three walks. Johnny Medina added two RBI.

Marquise Wood paced Tucson with three hits and two RBI. Jordan Harrison-Dudley had two hits, scored once and drove in three runs, while Zac Rice and Colin Johnson each had two hits. Liam Reynolds was listed as the winning pitcher after allowing one run on two hits in 1 1/3 innings. Tyler Reistetter worked 3 1/3 innings for Alpine, allowing four runs on five hits with three strikeouts. Mitsuki Shimonishi was charged with the loss after recording no outs and allowing three runs on two hits.

Gavy Perez-Torres went 2-for-3 with two walks two runs and three stolen bases for Tucson. Jordan Harrison-Dudley collected three hits in four at-bats with a double a triple and one RBI. Marquise Wood added two hits two walks two RBI and a run while Zach Campbell contributed one hit and one RBI. Tucson also turned two double plays.

Joe Burch earned the win after allowing four hits and no runs over six innings. He walked three and struck out two. Gavin Grubbs followed with two scoreless innings allowing one hit while striking out three. Jesse Palafox worked the ninth and allowed one run on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Tim Carter took the loss for Pecos, surrendering 18 hits and 14 runs, 10 earned, in seven innings with six walks and two strikeouts. S. Polanco accounted for all three Pecos RBI with a triple, while B. Wittle recorded the Bills only other extra-base hit with a double.

Alpine scored three runs in the first inning, added one in the second and two in the third to take a 6-4 lead. The Cowboys then scored once in each of the fifth through eighth innings to pull away.

Alpine center fielder A. Folds went 3-for-6 with a home run, two runs and two RBI. James Prockish added three hits and two RBI, while Taylor Darden scored twice and reached base three times with two hits and a walk. J. Medina and John Tuttle each drove in two runs. For Pecos, A. Valdes had three hits and an RBI, while Luke Smith and T. Taufahema each collected two RBI. Taufahema also hit a home run and stole two bases.

Chris Brown earned the win for Alpine after allowing three hits and one run in three innings while striking out five. Jonathan Fleckenstein worked three innings, allowing four runs, and Dom Spinoso and Kyle Petri combined for three scoreless innings to close out the victory. May 31 2024 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Pecos Bills 8-3 after breaking open a close game with three runs in the fifth inning and five more in the eighth. Alpine finished with 12 hits and no errors while Pecos collected 11 hits and committed one error.

Taylor Darden led Alpine with three hits in five at-bats and drove in three runs. Tommy Kretzler also recorded three hits with one RBI, while James Prockish went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two walks. Hunter Reid added a home run and an RBI for the Cowboys.

Alpine starter Hunter Reid earned the win after allowing one earned run on seven hits in six innings with six strikeouts and two walks. Jaylen Smith followed with two scoreless innings, and Jesse Garcia worked the ninth. Pecos starter Alex Jacobs took the loss despite pitching seven innings, allowing four runs three earned on 10 hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

Alpine scored once in the second inning and twice in the fifth to match Pecos, which scored twice in the second and once in the fifth. The Cowboys then broke the game open late. A. Folds went 4-for-5 with two runs, while P. Kennard collected three hits, including two doubles. Drake Angeron added two hits, two runs and an RBI, and James Prockish had two hits and three RBIs.

Tommy Kretzler hit a home run and finished with two hits two runs and two RBIs. Josh Rego also homered and drove in two runs. J. Medina contributed two hits and four RBIs for Alpine.

Humberto Vela earned the win after holding Pecos scoreless on four hits over five innings while striking out eight.
